United Kingdom, London, Old Harrods Repository

Repair and stabilisation of the dome on top of the Harrods Repository Building which has now been converted to up-market apartments.
The dome was constructed by incorporating flat steel reinforcements bars into the centre of the moulded concrete form and then the domes were glazed with terracotta tiles. Over time water ingress had caused serious damage to the interior and exterior of the dome.
The exterior was cleaned and then missing mortar repaired with Repair Mortar Plus. Once completed Facade Cream was worked over the terracotta tiles and the stonework around the flagpole.
Internally the dome was cleaned and the steels were protected with Betomor Multi A. Fillet details were created to all internal angles using Repair Mortar Plus with added SB Bonding Emulsion, to create a concave profile.
Having cleaned the flagpole penetration KB PUR IN5 was injected to fill the void.
The internal dome was sprayed with Polysil TG500 and then NB1 Grey with added SB Bonding Emulsion, was applied over the entire area. Once this was cured a finishing layer of Koster 21 and Flex Fabric was used to complete the job, creating an extremely robust waterproof finish.
